Mentoring Chart and some attributes of covered items in a mentoring relationship


Mentors will work with school staff and other agencies to provide support to children who need help overcoming barriers to learning.

The intention is to bring about sustained change with individual pupils, to improve of their behaviour and attendance, and to share heritage stories related to African American heritage.


  1. To work in partnership with all staff in drawing up and implementing an action plan for each pupil in need of support
  2. To develop a 1:1 mentoring relationship with pupils receiving support, aimed at achieving the goals defined in their individual action plan

Requirements & Commitment

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 8-10 hours monthly
  • Student in Good standing with Tulsa Community College and potential member of a Student Organization
