ORGANIZATION: LA Makerspace

  • 5 people are interested

We are looking for grants that schools, libraries, afterschool programs, etc. can apply for so we can go in and train their staff how to facilitate STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) for low-income kids. Our aim is for every kid to have access to this but we don't have a big enough budget to do this for free yet so we want to help our partners apply for grants.

About LA Makerspace

Location:

800 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90017, US

Mission Statement

We're here to end inequality in access to high-quality, hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) learning for LA kids and teens.

Description

We train people who work with low-income youth, such as librarians, after-school staffers, etc, to facilitate STEAM skills learning in an interest-driven, project-based Maker style. Our method doesn't require the staffers to become STEAM experts themselves, so it enables them to integrate STEAM into their program with the resources they already have.
