Mission Statement

Stamford Dollars for Scholars has a single purpose: to mobilize the community to support students who live or go to high school school in Stamford with scholarships for college/vocational training. We hold fundraising events to fund our general scholarships and provide a clearinghouse for scholarship sponsors who wish to fund scholarships for a particular field, interest or target audience. We manage endowments, one time scholarships, and limited duration scholarship funds. Our recipients are chosen from the local Stamford community - Stamford residents graduating from any high school or anyone graduating from any of the high schools located in Stamford.

Description

Stamford Dollars for Scholars was established in September, 2011 to provide scholarship assistance to Stamford high school students who want to pursue their education beyond high school. We are an all-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit with a passionate belief that education changes the fortunes of individuals and communities.

Stamford Dollars for Scholars is conceived around a simple idea: together we can step in and help talented and worthy local students secure the educational so necessary to achieveing their goals in today's competitive global work environment. With the high cost of college threatening to derail young aspirations, there's no greater gift we can give our student neighbors-in-need than access to the tools to create a brighter future.

We raise awareness by speaking to local organizations and parent/student groups, exhibiting at college fairs and informing the media. We also raise funds and award scholarships that enable local students to pursue their dreams
