Volunteers must first complete our volunteer orientation/training. They take place usually the second Saturday and Thursday of each month but are also offered throughout the week for those who cannot attend either of the two dates. Training takes around an hour and consists of a tour and review of our volunteer covenant form.
Lunch is served cafeteria style from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Volunteers help put food on trays, fill up cups with ice/drinks, wipe tables down, bus trays, and sweep where it is needed. This opportunity is a good way to get your feet wet and see all of the men, women and children we serve each day.

Description
The Downtown Rescue Mission (DRM) is a Christian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1975 and serves some of the most economically and socially disadvantaged individuals and families throughout northern Alabama. We provide essential emergency services and life-transforming recovery programs to homeless individuals and families throughout northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. Since its inception the Mission has been touching the lives of homeless, impoverished and struggling individuals and offering nutritious meals, safe shelter and hope for their future.
