The events manager will take the lead in directing, coordinating and setting achievable timelines and deadlines for Africa Agenda events. Since the organization's inception, more than 5000 people have attended Africa Agenda-organized events to learn about the African continent. The organization is planning several events in 2017, including a World Press Freedom Day celebration in May and the 4th Annual Colorado-Africa Summit in the fall.
This person will be a leader with experience in managing staff and training other volunteers in event procedures. The events manager will promote Africa Agenda events, work with vendors, sell tickets, approve and track payments, and ensure that things go well on the day of the event.
We’re looking for someone with a friendly, outgoing personality and who can work with people from different backgrounds and cultures. This is an opportunity for someone who is ready to learn about the African continent and broaden their understanding of U.S.-Africa relations.
The time commitment for this volunteer position is about 4 hours a week, depending on how many events Africa Agenda organizes.
