This summer Africa Agenda will launch a new website to continue with its mission to bring balance, create understanding, and to provide context and perspective to the reporting of Global African news. More than 12 million people have visited the Africa Agenda website to check out the news. Also, more than 5000 people have attended Africa Agenda-organized events to learn about the African continent.
To support this mission:
The editor will edit all incoming content for clarity and provide focus to comply with the organization's mission. We are looking for someone who is innovative, passionate about the African continent, and can lead a newsroom. The editor will be required to attend/lead weekly editorial meetings on Tuesdays, from 5 to 6 p.m. at our office inside the Posner Center in Denver. Typical editorial duties include writing headlines, developing storyboards, fact checking, liaising with writers, helping put stories in context, and provide substantive feedback to Africa Agenda contributors. Applicants should have familiarity, if not, have an interest in the broader issues related to the delivery of the news in the age of social media. Knowledge of WordPress or CMS would be helpful. Familiarity or knowledge of AP style is a must. This volunteer position requires a minimum commitment 6 months to start.
