ORGANIZATION: PARTNERSHIPS FOR TRAUMA RECOVERY

  • 1 person is interested

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to healing trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses. PTR joins the movement to reduce the global mental health gap by addressing the psychosocial impacts of trauma caused by war, torture, forced displacement, human trafficking, and persecution due to identity and beliefs. At our Bay Area-based Mosaic Healing Center, we draw on synergies among the core components of our model to: (a) provide mental health care for refugees, asylees, asylum seekers and human trafficking survivors, (b) expand clinical capacity to serve these populations, and (c) advocate for policies to prevent trauma and re-traumatization.

With combined expertise gained through over twenty years of providing clinical services to survivors of war trauma, torture and persecution, and in-depth experience implementing international human rights programming, our team integrates the fields of global mental health and human rights to expand the range - and increase the depth - of psychosocial support for this highly vulnerable population.

Description

Partnerships of Trauma Recovery is seeking an intern to manage our social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter. This would mean posting and tweeting relevant articles, sharing posts from those we follow, liking and following similar organizations or causes and researching ways we can become more connected on social media. Ideally, this person would have a background and interest in international human rights, refugee trauma, mental health care or humanitarian policy so that they could eventually maintain these pages independently. However, we would be willing to provide training for interested candidates with advanced knowledge of social media. This opportunity would immerse the intern in the inner workings of a burgeoning nonprofit as well as provide deeper insight into refugee trauma and mental health. We would like the intern to work 5-10 hours/week and work from our office in Berkeley, CA starting Fall 2016 (between mid-August to mid- September).

If interested in working with a nonprofit dedicated to human rights and healing, please send a resume and a brief description of your background in social media to tperkins@traumapartners.org . For more information about PTR, please visit our website at www.traumapartners.org.
