HEART OF LOS ANGELS(HOLA) provides under-served youth in the McArthur Park area of LA with exceptional programs in academics, arts and athletics within a nurturing environment, empowering them to develop their potential, pursue their education and strengthen their communities.

HOLA is looking for college counseling students who are committed to learn about and work in college admissions & financial aid. Great opportunity for College Counseling students iinterested in supplementing thier course study with work in the field, but are not ready for the Practicum work.

Volunteers will provide the following services to our HS Srs. and Jrs.:

• Academic advising for the A-G course completion
• College Counseling (admissions requirements, college search etc)
• Career and college major exploration
• Assist in completing college admission applications
• Assist the program and College Counselor in compiling and cataloging resources as well as assisting in the setting up college/career focused presentations/workshops and campus tours.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be willing to maintain a consistent schedule of 8-15 hrs per week
• FALL/WINTER- 4:00 pm-8:30 pm Wednesdays (Senior focus) is a must Monday Tuesdays AND/OR Thursdays from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm (Junior focus)
• Posses a passion to work with a diverse population
• Pass LiveScan background screening
• A command of the Spanish language is a plus, but not required.
