Outreach volunteers will promote Oregon Natural Desert Association's high desert conservation priorities by staffing outreach and tabling events throughout Portland and by supporting a variety of conservation campaign communications functions. With supervision and guidance provided by ONDA's Portland-based Outreach Coordinator, volunteers have the opportunity to:

- Recruit new members and advocates
- Provide information about ONDA, desert conservation priorities and how people can get involved
- Capture key information from outreach efforts in ONDA's membership database to grow conservation advocacy efforts
- Develop new events in Portland, including event strategy and promotion
Successful volunteers have:
- A genuine passion for conservation, and particular interest in Oregon's high desert
- Desire to learn about ONDA's mission and key program areas
- High comfort level with public interaction/speaking
- Ability to solicit donations and recruit members
- Friendly demeanor, sense of humor and ability to adapt to changes
- Availability to volunteer evening and weekend hours
- Experience tabling is a plus
About the Oregon Natural Desert Association:
ONDA is the only group dedicated exclusively to the conservation of Oregon's high desert wild lands, waterways and wildlife. Together with more than 5,000 members and supporters, ONDA has worked to protect, defend, and restore Oregon's high desert for nearly 30 years. Our work includes championing land protection, speaking out for fish and wildlife and restoring vital high desert habitat. Current initiatives include work to conserve three million acres of public land in the Central Oregon Backcountry, the John Day River basin, the Hart Mountain region and the Owyhee Canyonlands of eastern Oregon.

Mission Statement
The Oregon Natural Desert Association exists to protect, defend and restore Oregon's high desert.
Description
Our dream is to see millions of acres of beautiful and ecologically vital public lands permanently protected and home to diverse populations of wildlife. Working in partnership with more than 10,000 members and supporters, ONDA is the only group dedicated exclusively to the preservation of Oregon’s high desert.
Since its founding in 1987, ONDA has earned many successes, including the protection of Oregon’s Badlands and Spring Basin as the state’s second and third desert wilderness areas. ONDA was also instrumental in the creation of Oregon’s first desert wilderness, Steens Mountain Wilderness in 2000.
Today, ONDA remains devoted to engaging diverse voices to conserve vast tracts of public lands in areas such as Central Oregon, John Day, the Greater Hart Sheldon Landscape and the Owyhee Canyonlands. We also operate a restoration program to improve habitat for fish and wildlife, and maintain diligent efforts to enforce conservation laws to protect sensitive wildlife.
