The Friends of the Forest Program is an independent group volunteer option perfect for Scouts, youth groups, and outdoor service organizations who want to volunteer at their convenience. By helping collect litter at TLC’s nature preserves you keep the area healthy for plants and animals and pristine looking for people exploring nature. The Friends of the Forest kit includes gloves, bags, maps, safety instructions, and several environmental education activities and games to complement your volunteer service. The program is offered at 4 nature preserves in the Triangle Area. Please contact bgoldentyer@triangleland.org for information about the Friends of the Forest Program and to schedule a service date.

Mission Statement
Triangle Land Conservancy strives to create a healthier and more vibrant Triangle region by safeguarding clean water, protecting natural habitats, supporting local farms and food, and connecting people with nature through land protection and stewardship, catalyzing community action, and collaboration.
Description
Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) is a membership-supported, nonprofit that sees the Triangle region as an increasingly healthy and vibrant place to live where wild and working lands are protected and everyone has access to open space, clean water, and local food. TLC’s protected sites in Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Johnston, and Lee counties encompass more than 17,000 acres, including five nature preserves open year-round to visitors and a canoe access area, all free of charge. We protect land in a variety of ways, including purchasing land, holding conservation easements on important tracts of land, and working with partners to make a larger impact through joint conservation efforts.
