We are currently in need of a volunteer to work in the food cupboard Monday mornings from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

Program Overview

EFC hours are Mondays 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 - 4:00 pm; Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The food cupboard is closed on Tuesdays.

Our food cupboard aims to provide a three-day supply of groceries to eligible clients in zip codes 14604, 14605, 14607, 14609 once every 30 days by appointment only. Volunteers answer the door, welcome clients, check identification, verify addresses, and record appointments in the client’s file and the food distribution report. Food cupboard volunteers also help to keep a well-stocked and neat pantry, assist with deliveries, and rotate fresh food items. Before working any shifts, you must have a Volunteer Application on file with Dimitri House, sign the Volunteer Agreement, and meet with a staff member for orientation.

About DIMITRI HOUSE INC

Location:

Mission Statement

To serve our neighbors in need with love and acceptance, joining them on their journey toward self-sufficiency.

Description

At Dimitri House, we continue to honor our roots. We remember those who got us started in the early 1980s by providing nutritious meals, warm hospitality, and loving acceptance to the poor and homeless of Rochester.

In February 2000, we received independent status as a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Today, we help our clients on their journeys towards self-sufficiency by offering many programs including a men's winter shelter, a food pantry, and a drop-in program where clients can access services to help them address challenges they are facing.

We have two full-time employees, one part-time employee, a volunteer Board of Directors, and over 100 other volunteers. Our annual budget is approximately $160,000. Our support comes from grants, fundraisers, donations, and United Way.

We keep it simple. We don't do it all but what we do, we do well.
