the Help Network (a volunteer recruitment organization) and Disability Rights New York (an advocacy group for persons with disabilities) are looking for volunteers to collect data at public bus stops in Suffolk County, Long Island. This data would help Disability Rights New York (DRNY) better advocate for accessible public transit on Long Island.
Volunteers would be trained by DRNY at their Brooklyn office to collect data primarily through photos. They then would go in groups of 3 to different bus stops in Suffolk County and record how accessible the stop is for persons with disabilities.
The 3 person team would be composed of a driver, navigator, and photographer. The driver would be given a $10 gas card.
This would be a half a day commitment
This is a great oppertunity to have a positive impact on a community that is often forgotten.
