We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to assist in developing our marketing & social media activity to promote our work with disadvantaged children in Peru.

This role is suited to pro-active individuals who are keen to develop and volunteer their skills within a charity which helps some of the poorest children in Peru, or a new graduate from a marketing course who is looking to gain further experience in social media marketing. Whatever the length of commitment you wish to make, we will help improve your employability with on-the-job training and support with your CV.

Kiya Survivors aims to provide a new beginning for children and young people in the global community who have special needs or have been abused or abandoned. We help them gain independence through education and therapy, love and laughter.

We work alongside local authorities to help instigate change in areas such as appropriate special needs services, support in local schools and workplaces and encouraging the integration of children born to be different so they can thrive in their communities and homes.

At the heart of our work is the belief that education improves health and livelihood, ultimately uniting communities.

Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic individual hoping to get some experience working in the charity sector, or someone who wishes to volunteer your skills to a great cause?

  • Position: Marketing & Social Media Intern/marketing & Social Media Volunteer

  • Grade: Volunteer

  • Working hours: Part-time 3 days per week flexible / or a minimum of 21 hours per week.
    2 month minimum commitment required - this is an important position and involves some training, hence the minimum commitment of rwo months.

  • Reports to: Programme Director

  • Location: Home-working/South of England

Now is an important time for Kiya Survivors as we look to diversify the marketing strategy for the charity that helps makes all of our work with disadvantaged children possible. As part of a small marketing team, the work and the projects that you contribute to will help set our future direction and successes.

This voluntary role is a position designed to give the successful applicant experience of working for an International NGO while contributing to the development of the organisation’s marketing. The role involves learning about Digital fundraising, website management and the use of social media within a charity as well as more traditional communications, and will give valuable experience of marketing & engagement database "Salesforce."’. Ultimately the Executive Committee are looking for a volunteer to help with the implementation and delivery of the charity’s Marketing and Audience Development strategies.

The successful applicant will work with both the Programme Director & Board of Trustees. We will provide mentoring and support to ensure that the successful applicant gains valuable experience within the sector and successfully develops their fundraising skills.

The role would perfectly suit someone with strong digital skills (though experience is not necessary), someone who likes working with and developing systems and a person with an interest in international development. On completion of the position help will be given with CV writing and job applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Communications & Marketing Director to identify opportunities and themes for social media content in line with communication objectives

  • Co-manage our social media channels, research and post relevant content, respond to any queries

  • Helping to set and work towards, social media objectives and targets

  • Update our social media guidelines for staff and volunteers

  • Increase the reach of new online content and input into how content is best promoted across all our marketing channel.

  • Increasing the numbers of people following our posts on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and YouTube

  • To assist in the delivery of marketing campaigns to support both the artistic and commercial sides of the business as directed by the Marketing team under the supervision of the Marketing Trustee

  • To engage in training and development as and when required by the PR and Marketing Director/Trustee

  • To uphold and comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures and the law in relation to health and safety, financial regulations, equal opportunities, data protection required for the effective and appropriate operation of the venue
