This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.

More than a school, we are a warm and supportive community of people who care about children, education, multiculuralism, and the environment.

The Board of Trustees supports the work of The Garden School and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the school Director who reports to the Board, the Board plays a crucial role in the health and stability of the organization.

Leadership, governance and oversight
Serving as a trusted advisor to the Director as s/he develops and implements The Garden School's strategic plan
Reviewing outcomes and metrics generated by the school, to offer input into strategic development
Measuring the performance and effectiveness of the director
Reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
Approving The Garden School's annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions
Being informed of and meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Assisting the President in identifying and recruiting other board members
Partnering with the President and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
Representing The Garden School to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
Ensuring The Garden School's commitment to a diverse board and staff

The Garden School board members will consider The Garden School to be a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority.

Board terms/participation
The Garden School board members serve an initial one-year term, after which they may serve three-year terms. Board meetings are held quarterly over a video conferencing connection, and committee meetings will be held as determined by the board and by committee members.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about The Garden School's mission and who has personal and professional experience that compliments the work and growth of the school.
