Spring planting for future harvest near Lone Jack

Join us to help plant cabbage, collard greens, potatoes and more for After the Harvest to harvest this summer. This generous farmer has donated his land, seeds, and time to grow vegetables specifically for us to distribute and he needs our help for this initial planting. We’ll e-mail you the farm address (about 15 min. east of Lee's Summit) the week of the planting. Thanks! We look forward to seeing you in the field!

Fruits and vegetables are going to waste in farmers’ fields. Can you help us save this fresh, nutritious produce to feed hungry families? At After the Harvest, we glean-gather excess fruits and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste-at farms and orchards and take that fresh, nutritious produce to food banks (like Harvesters) and pantries to feed hungry people in Kansas and Missouri.

Are you, your friends, family or organization looking for a fun activity while also helping others? Come join us! Breathe in fresh country air, get your hands a little dirty, bring the kids and help glean--gather excess produce at a farm or orchard within 30-45 min. of Kansas City. Then, if you can, help even more by delivering the fresh produce to local food banks and pantries.

Please let us know you’re interested in gleaning with us this season: Late May (sometimes earlier depending on weather) to November, for about three hours Mon-Sat mornings in the summer, with later start times in the fall.
