Volunteer as a teacher's assistant. Our GED and Adult Diploma classes are bursting at the seams. With great instruction (our teacher is a 2016 Teacher of the Year Finalist!) comes a great amount of administrative and class management work.
Your role could include any (but not limited to) the following: Correcting assignments, consulting students on assignments and/or projects, project facilitation, reviewing student work for competency standards, math group leader, ELA group leader, workforce skills tutor or general administrative office support.
Assignment is flexible and our teachers are willing to work around your schedule for any of these positions. Class times are Monday-Friday 9:00-1:00pm and Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-8:30pm.

Mission Statement
Metro North inspires and challenges all learners to reach their full potential. In a safe and supportive environment, we teach the skills needed to succeed as responsible citizens in our changing world.
Description
Metro North Adult Basic Education is a well established program, known as a collaborative partner sharing resources and working to find new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our learners. We have been serving a diverse population of adult learners in the north metro communities of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St Paul) for more than 30 years. Metro North ABE is one of the largest consortiums in the state and is recognized as a leader in the best practices in adult basic education.
We are comprised of 8 school districts, providing free classes to adults for learning English, basics in reading, writing and math skills, citizenship, preparation for college placement, GED preparation, diploma, basic computer skills, transitions to post-secondary, and work place readiness. Last year we provided services to over 2000 learners. About half are learning English in our ESL program, and the other half are in basic skills development, GED, and other classes.
Metro North's diversity is not only in its adult learners, its sites are unique in offering urban, suburban, rural and small town settings. Covering the northern part of the Twin Cities, the consortium includes these school districts: Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Centennial, Columbia Heights, Elk River, Fridley, Spring Lake Park and St. Francis.
