Sailing the Martin 16 with power assist system.

Challenged Sailors San Diego is a volunteer supported program providing sailing opportunities for adults and veterans with disabilities. We sail every Friday and Saturday from 11:30am-3:00pm from the San Diego harbor!

We're looking for more incredible volunteers willing to make our nationally-recognized and award-winning program even more fulfilling on behalf of the disabled.

-Companion sailors (go sailing with our adaptive sailors!)
-Dock support (no experience required)
-Boat maintenance and repair

We have a fleet of eight Martin 16 sailboats specifically designed for adaptive sailing. We get people in the boats and behind the helm regardless of disability and sailing experience.

Visit https://www.challengedsailors.org/volunteer or send an email to info@challengedsailors.org if you can volunteer!

Challenged Sailors San Diego is the recipient of the US Sailing 2022 Robie Pierce award for outstanding program service in adaptive sailing. We can't do it without our volunteers. You are wanted here.

Mission Statement

Free adaptive sailing for people with disabilities. Every Friday and Saturday from 11:30am-3:00pm in the San Diego Harbor! #WeSailEveryWeekend

Description

We take people with disabilities sailing every weekend in San Diego Harbor. 100% free for diabled sailors and volunteers. Fridays and Saturdays, 11:30am-3:00pm.

We depend on our amazing volunteers for this invaluable service to remain free and to happen every weekend, You are part of this!

It's hard to put into words how absolutely cool this is. You get out on the water with someone who might have CP, MS, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord problems, quadra/para - and you know what happens? Nobody is disabled on the water. We're all just sailors at that point. Everyone is trimming the main and heading upwind and laughing and swapping stories and being on the water together.

Our volunteers make it easy and accessible for people of all kinds of disabilities to go for the ride of their life. You make this happen!
