AiP is delighted to embark on our first project in Scotland and invites you to join a conservation experience that will provide you with memories for a lifetime and leave a lasting legacy.
The focus of this conservation experience is on the rescue and restoration of an Edwardian-era greenhouse. Prior to the mid-19th century a glasshouse, as greenhouses were called, was an object of awe to the majority of the population. The combination of the window tax (imposed on dwellings) and the glass tax (levied by weight) made even the smallest conservatory remarkable. Surviving glasshouses represent a unique legacy of Victorian and Edwardian society.
