Are you a Military Veteran that wishes to help support other Veterans in a truly unique way?

Do you have a few hours each week to be a companion to a Veteran hospice patient and support them in their last journey?

Would you like to help our staff participate in Veteran events?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, HarmonyCares Hospice is seeking Military Veterans, like you, for our Vet-to-Vet Program.

As a Veteran, you have a unique perspective in service to others. HarmonyCares Hospice's commitment to service those who have served our country includes Military Veterans who may be willing to extend care to a Veteran hospice patient.

HarmonyCares Hospice aims to pair Veteran Volunteers with Veteran hospice patients. Veteran Volunteers are essential to the delivery of hospice care, which provides comfort care at the end stage of life. They participate in personal visits and special events to honor Veteran patients. Without Veteran Volunteers, we are at a loss to extend the full measure of support for our Veteran hospice patients and their families.

All Veteran Volunteers receive training to ensure that they are comfortable with their assigned tasks.

Fore more information on the services offered to HarmonyCares Hospice Veteran hospice patients, please respond to connect with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. It is a program for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. The hospice philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. The goal of hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. Hospice care can also be provided in a long-term care facility or an assisted living facility
