ORGANIZATION: Arts & Business Council of Chicago

The Arts & Business Council of Chicago (A&BC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to linking the strengths of arts and business for the mutual benefit of both. A&BC builds arts and business partnerships that enhance the management capacity of over 300 arts organizations in the Chicagoland area each year, while developing the leadership capabilities of business professionals through effective volunteerism.

A&BC recently launched its Membership Program to engage and connect the arts-loving community in Chicago. The Membership Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and Programs Department to help build out the program.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Tracking new and active members
  • Tracking and managing member benefits
  • Cultivating new partnerships with organizations and businesses to add to the member benefits
  • Compiling member data for tracking and evaluation purposes
  • Creating and managing membership materials
  • Assisting with the monthly member newsletter
  • Assisting with Members Only event planning
  • General administrative tasks, as needed

Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate with an interest in arts administration or a business major
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database programs
  • Strong communication skills, energy and confidence for outreach by phone to both warm and cold contacts
  • Ability to work well independently

Description

Arts & Business Council of Chicago (A&BC) is an Arts Service Organization which enhances organizational resiliency through capacity building. Capacity building is an intentional effort to improve an organization's effectiveness and sustainability, resulting in the organization successfully executing its mission.

Since 1985 A&BC has engaged with over 600 unique arts and culture organizations, enhancing their organizational resiliency through sequenced capacity building (known as our "continuum of care"), using tools including assessment, direct consulting, educational, and networking programs that strengthen management, administrative and organizational systems.

A&BC serves all arts and cultural producers, by working with administrative and artistic leaders, staff, and volunteers from Chicago’s creative community from a range of budget sizes and longevity, no matter their artistic discipline. We primarily serve emerging to mid-sized organizations with operating budgets under $1.5M.
