Internship Description
The Community Outreach Intern will be responsible for the following:
- Represent the AHA at health fairs, Lunch-and-Learns, and Heart & Stroke Walk recruitment events
- Share information about our mission and the Walk with employees and volunteers
- Prep and curate materials for specific health and Heart-Walk-related events
- Support Business Development Director at Heart Walk events
- Recruit Community Teams; manage communications, stewardship, and logistics
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
This internship requires the breadth and depth of education and experience needed to meet these objectives including:
Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check
Effective oral, written, presentation and communication skills
Flexible schedule to attend events on weekdays and occasionally weekends
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment - a proactive attitude is essential
Ability to use Microsoft Office programs preferred (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
Preferred Qualifications
Current college student or recent college graduate
Coursework in nonprofit management, communications, public administration, public health, or a
related field
Experience in community outreach and/or volunteer management
Hours Desired Summer/fall (ideal end date Nov. 1): 15-20 hours per week
