Mrs. R Goes to the Library!
Another of our beautiful nonagenarians! She can't drive, and lives alone, so really appreciates the few hours a month this volunteers gives to her!

A little time, a BIG impact! ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth is seeking volunteers to make regular visits with an elderly neighbor. These visits can be spent chatting, going for a short walk, helping pay bills or manage mail, taking a drive, playing a card game...anything that would interest both volunteer and client.

The visits can be arranged weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, depending on your schedule, and usually last about 1 to 2 hours. They are meant to reduce loneliness and isolation for the people we serve, but they can do a lot more than that! By increasing community connection for the seniors we interact with, the whole community benefits.

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Liz Hill at 610-525-0706 or ehill@eldernetonline.org with any questions about our programs.

Mission Statement

To help older and younger disabled adults who have low-moderate incomes remain living independently in their homes by providing free volunteer, social work, and emergency help.

Description

ElderNet provides volunteer based services such as escort (door through door) driving to medical and other necessary appointments, rides to shopping, to the bank and other errands. We also provide telephone reassurance (daily well-being checks), friendly visiting, odd jobs and small home repairs (like installing grab bars), and help with managing checkbooks and bills. We also provide a food cupboard. These services are free and are limited to older and younger adults/families who reside in Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough in Montgomery County, PA. We also provide emergency financial assistance (again, with income and residency restrictions). Our information and referral services are open to anyone. We also have new and evolving services that further contribute to helping older and disabled younger adults remain living in their own homes. We collaborate with other agencies, and have a very active advocacy committee.
