We are looking for compassionate individuals who are interested in attending and participating in SMCN Board Meetings once a month, for one hour. We have a simple application process and would invite anyone interested to attend one meeting and see if they would like to join the Board. The Board discusses and votes on important agency information such as the fiscal year budget; wage and compensation plan; fundraising goals; policies and procedures; strategic and compliance plans, etc. SMCN is now recognized as a nationally accredited agency by CARF ( Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities).

Mission Statement

Southern Maryland Community Network, Inc. (SMCN) forms a partnership between people with mental health needs and their community to foster understanding, empowerment, integration and enhanced quality of life.

Description

SMCN is a private, non-profit mental health organization that has been operating since 1981. SMCN was formed by parents and concerned citizens who wanted to integrate mentally ill individuals into the community with the goal of rehabilitation and independent living. SMCN began as a humble, grass roots organization but has grown into an agency that now serves over 400 consumers within a Tri-County area in the Southern Maryland region. We have programs that help both children and adults suffering from mental illnesses work on their own personal goals for recovery. Our programs include: Residential Rehab; Targeted Case Management; Adult Crisis; In-Home Intervention; Psychiatric Rehab; and Supported Employment.
