ORGANIZATION: Prevention Resource Center

The Montana Primary Care Association (MPCA) is dedicated to health equity for a thriving Montana. MPCA is a statewide organization that represents 17 federally qualified community health centers (CHCs). MPCA is dedicated to supporting the work and effort of CHCs as well as working toward a more equitable and accessible health system in Montana. The VISTA member’s role in this capacity building is to improve upon the outreach and enrollment efforts that have begun in Montana. The VISTA will further develop and build upon the growth and momentum of Cover Montana by further growing Cover Montana Partners and Sponsors to help Montana communities learn about, apply for, and enroll in health insurance therefore increasing health access in Montana communities’ especially low income and rural populations. The VISTA will develop a health insurance literacy campaign for Cover Montana Partners to utilize when promoting health insurance enrollment among Native Americans and low-income populations. The VISTA will also assist with grant writing to increase sustainability for the project. This position is located in Missoula.

Mission Statement

The Prevention Resource Center VISTA Project connects Montana communities, the Interagency Coordinating Council for State Prevention Programs, and the AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) throughout the state of Montana. It strives to keep Montana children, communities and families strong and resilient against risks such as unintended and unhealthy pregnancies, child abuse and neglect, substance abuse, crime and violence, and high school drop-outs.
