Alternatives For Girls' mission is to help homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and help them to explore and access the support, resources and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong and to make positive choices in their lives.
AFG is seeking volunteers for Alternatives For Girls' summer program, Rise N' Shine. The program is a summer camp for girls in Southwest Detroit that provides engaging and enriching workshops and field trips every week.
Rise N' Shine will begin on July 11th and end on August 17th. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist with the camp's workshops. Topics include arts and crafts, theater, writing, and much more.
Volunteers are also needed on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays are reserved for field trip days. Volunteers on these days would accompany the girls on the field trip.
