At Spay and Neuter Kansas City, we believe in nonjudgmental assistance for low-income pet owners, because money should be no obstacle to experiencing the loving bond between owner and pet. Everything we do is with the goal of helping pet owners keep their pets happy, healthy and in their homes where they belong. One way we support these families is through our Pet Food Pantry. Last year, we distributed 720 tons of pet food to families in Kansas City! We are searching for a volunteer Pantry Coordinator to oversee the operation of our food pantry efforts.

Our Pet Food Pantry occurs three times each month: twice at our Kansas City, MO clinic and once at a Kansas City, KS location. Pantry dates fall on Mondays and Saturdays, and take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Responsibilities
The coordinator is expected be on-site during each pantry to lead a team of 5 volunteers in the set up, running, and clean up of pantry activities. This position also acts as a liaison between pantry clients and our Outreach team, communicating any special situations, additional needs or inquiries from clients to the appropriate Outreach staff member. The coordinator will be trained to use our food pantry database to accurately record each client's visit, items received, requested, etc.

Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate for this volunteer position has excellent leadership and people skills, keeps a positive attitude and values working as part of a team. Experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment is encouraged. Must have the ability to multi-task, delegate, and make decisions independently. Heavy lifting and spending up to 2 hours on your feet may be required. Bilingual proficiency is highly encouraged but not required.

Volunteers receive a free SNKC t-shirt, free admission to continuing education classes, and invitations to special events including volunteer recognition events.
How to Apply Interested volunteers must submit a volunteer application, resume, and references. Please specify interest in the Food Pantry Coordinator position. Upon approval, volunteers will complete an interview with Outreach and Volunteer Services staff.
