About

If you are passionate about helping others in need when a disaster strikes, be part of a team that meets the immediate emergency needs of disaster clients. Disaster Responders assist with food, clothing, shelter, emergency health services, and other services that may be needed after a disaster. They support first responders at the incident scene when necessary. You can choose to support local disaster response on an ongoing basis or when a large-scale disaster occurs. There is also the option to support national disaster response when needed. Opportunities to apply specialized skills, such as management, logistical, technical, etc. are available and readily needed.

This position is for all CT and RI towns. Time commitment is variable depending on if it is a local disaster (2-5 hours) or national assignment (14 days). In some instances, time commitments can be tailored to a volunteer’s availability.

This person must have a valid driver’s license (16+) and be able to volunteer nights and weekends if necessary.

Register to volunteer at http://www.redcross.org/ct/volunteer (CT) or http://www.redcross.org/ri/volunteer (RI). If you need assistance or have further questions, please contact chctrivolintake@redcross.org.
