Thank you for your interest in our program. Mentor Me is a school-based mentoring program that provides volunteer adult mentors in one-on-one matches for students in grades K-12 who have been identified by school staff or other interested persons, as needing extra support. Mentors meet with their mentees for a minimum of one hour, once a week during the school day, at our mentor centers on the school campuses. These centers are overseen by our School Site Coordinators and offer activities that help to build trusting relationships between our mentors and mentees. Activities include playing board games, tackling puzzles, helping with school work, playing sports, or just hanging out together. Mentors and mentees can eventually meet off campus, too. We also operate the Mentor Me Cavanagh Recreation Center, our beautifully remodeled 12,000 sq. ft. facility where many of our mentors and mentees meet during and after school. The center includes a Student Lounge, Art Room, Cafe, and a Game Room complete with a piano, billiards, air hockey, ping pong and foosball. We also have a full sized gym equipped for basketball, volleyball and soccer. A community pool is located next door. The center also provides tutoring, college counseling, enrichment classes and other essential services for our mentees and their families. Through our 100 Active Kids Project, we offer many opportunities for mentorships to meet in the community, as well. We have access to movie and pool passes, a wide variety of gift cards to local restaurants and businesses, and ways to get involved with our local nonprofit partners.

Once accepted, mentors attend a 2 hour training. Mentors also receive support throughout the year from their School Site Coordinators, from our Executive Director, and via our Continuing Mentor Education opportunities. These include our monthly Mentor Roundtable support group and a wealth of offerings from our community partners.

Mentors are asked to stay in their mentoring friendship for at least 2 years. A real indicator of the success of our program is that 96% of our mentors complete their two-year commitment and 90% of our mentors continue for three or more years!

We are looking forward to having you begin your mentoring journey with us. When you are ready to start the application process, you may download all the necessary forms from our website WeAreMentorMe.org. You may also call or drop by our office to obtain the forms.
