Neighbor Ride launched its volunteer-based transportation service in 2004 with the mission to decrease isolation and improve the quality of life for Howard County's older residents. Today, its dedicated volunteers provide an average of 1500 trips per month for medical appointments, shopping, social outings, personal care and business, religious services, volunteer activities and other day-to-day needs. In the words of two passengers, "We have been able to retain our independence because of Neighbor Ride...Thanks so much and God bless."
You can give seniors the gift of independence by volunteering as a Neighbor Ride driver. Flexible and rewarding daytime, evening and weekend opportunities are available. Drivers may choose to provide rides that both fit their schedules and are convenient to their homes and daily routines.
Drivers must be 21 years of age or older, have valid drivers licenses and three years of recent driving experience. Drivers do not need to report to the office for their rides. They can simply choose the rides they would like to provide using our web-based Ride Match platform.Contact Patrice Cerwonka or Andrew Burkowske at 410-884-7433 or volunteer@neighborride.org to get started.

Mission Statement
Neighbor Ride enhances the health and quality of life for Howard County's seniors by providing the comfort and peace of mind of affordable, passenger-focused transportation services through a reliable, volunteer-based system. Since 2004, Neighbor Ride has leveraged the power of volunteers to coordinate and provide over 230,000 trips for older adults, age 60 and over - giving them the "wheels" they need to stay healthy and remain actively engaged in the life of our community. The cost of transportation is subsidized for all those Neighbor Ride serves, with modest fees charged for those who can afford to pay.
