ABOUT MUSICWORKS

MusicWorks aims to use music as a tool for social transformation by music industry professionals and students to the exhilarating experience of volunteer service.

In collaboration with nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles, musicians of all kinds and genres will be matched to different opportunities to serve as teaching artists in programs offering free access to music education in underserved communities.

ROLE SUMMARY

MusicWorks Teaching Artists are responsible for coaching beginning, intermediate or advanced instrumental, vocal or songwriting pedagogy for any of our partners from the MusicWorks’ nonprofit network. He or she will ensure the highest quality personal and musical experience for our partner’s students; implement a curriculum set by the assigned institution and collaborate with other Teaching Artists to support each child holistically. He or she will be an advocate of music as a tool for social transformation, helping facilitate community and family involvement.

Works addresses three principal needs: 1. To increase volunteer participation in community service projects; 2. To educate and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles Community.
