Volunteers may offer their help in any way that suits their talents. A volunteer registration is required. Needs include: visiting with current hosted students, assisting the chapter with interviewing, hosting a student, and talking with the community about the advantages of hosting a student in their home or sending a student abroad. AFS was founded by volunteer American Field Service ambulance drivers from World Wars I and II who believed-as AFS believes today-that the way to build a more just and peaceful world begins when people from different countries meet, learn about each other and begin to understand each other.
