The collections of the Santa Monica History Museum include hundreds of thousands of historical photographs and negatives. We need volunteers to help us inventory, digitize, and make these collections available to the public and researchers. Training will be provided.

Parking is provided for all volunteers. Please contact us if you're interested in helping to preserve, protect, and promote the history of our community!

Mission Statement

The Santa Monica History Museum was founded in 1975 under the city of Santa Monica centennial committee to collect and preserve the history, art and culture of the Santa Monica Bay area. Volunteers are needed to serve as docents in the areas of exhibit gallery, museum library, cashier-gift shop and reception desk, etc.
