ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Western New York

Educate health care professionals about Alzheimer's disease and related dementia's, programs and services available to their patients and caregivers, and how to make referrals to the Alzheimer's Association as needed, by conducting telephone calls and meetings.

Volunteers must attend a 2-hour Volunteer Orientation and shadow a Chapter staff employee, or seasoned volunteer, on a site visit, to complete the full training.

The Chapter is need of volunteers who live in, or are willing to travel to, the eight counties of WNY. If you live in NIAGARA, GENESEE, ORLEANS, CHAUTAUQUA, CATTARAUGUS, WYOMING and ALLEGANY County, we REALLY NEED your help! Desired commitment is flexible; 4 to 8 hours per month

Description

We provide programs and services to those with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia and their families. The Western New York Chapter serves all eight counties of WNY including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. We provide care consultations, a 24-hour helpline (1.800.272.3900), safety services, early stage programs, and education programs for caregivers, healthcare professionals and the general public. The Alzheimer's Association is also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. Together, we are elevating research, public policy, and awareness to unprecedented levels in pursuit of better treatments, a cure of a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
