ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Western New York

End starts with you

Act as liaison between local Chapter and community. Identify areas of need and opportunities, build and nurture relationships within the community while answering basic questions and providing information related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementia, and the resources of the Western New York Chapter.

Desired commitment: flexible/will vary by month, in the community.

Volunteers are needed throughout Western New York's eight county region! Currently, we need volunteers who live in the seven counties that border ERIE.

Our mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s.

Description

We provide programs and services to those with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia and their families. The Western New York Chapter serves all eight counties of WNY including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming. We provide care consultations, a 24-hour helpline (1.800.272.3900), safety services, early stage programs, and education programs for caregivers, healthcare professionals and the general public. The Alzheimer's Association is also the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer's research. Together, we are elevating research, public policy, and awareness to unprecedented levels in pursuit of better treatments, a cure of a way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
