Help prepare and serve meals to the women, children, and senior ladies at Hope Gardens Family Center.

7:00 am - 11:00 am; 11:00 am - 3:00 pm; and 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm - 7 days a week

We especially need help on Saturdays and Sundays at all meals. Up to 5 volunteers per meal service.

Provide Childcare

This is a perfect position for volunteers who are looking to hold, rock, sing, read, play and love these little kids while their mothers are onsite taking Transformational Program classes.

9am-12pm, Monday-Thursday, up to 5 volunteers

Beat the Streets Wrestling Program Assistant

Assist with our Wrestling Program by keeping kids focused in the exercises, assisting with moves and having a lot of fun! We can take up to 20 volunteers with this program.

Monday and Thursdays, 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Wednesdays, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Tutor our Moms

At URM’s Hope Gardens Family Center we offer our guests the opportunity to meet them where they are at. Tutors have the opportunity to help our women on a one-on-one basis learn phonics and reading skills. You can help our guest reach their goals by improving their literacy skills. Call for times to tutor, as it is based on the schedules of guests. (usually after 4:00 pm and until about 9:00 pm)

Birthday Celebration (Groups)

Help us celebrate the birthdays of our women & children by providing a special time of fellowship. We ask that volunteers bring decorations, games or a craft, drinks, plates, cutlery, cups and napkins. Ice cream would be an added bonus. (every 3 rd Tuesday of the month)

Host Summer Ice Cream Socials on the Lawn (Groups)

Enjoy a summer day or evening and host an Ice Cream Social for our women and children. Provide Hope Garden Family Center guests with ice cream, toppings and laughter to help cool off during hot sweltering summer days. Volunteers will decorate, serve, provide fellowship and clean up for the event. Sponsorship is $175.

Host Summer Movie Nights on the Lawn (Groups)

Bring that 'drive-in’ movie experience to the lawn at Hope Gardens Family Center as the perfect setting for movies with a view and seeing the stars under the stars. Volunteer groups host the movie night on Saturday evenings 6 pm - 9 pm and provide the G/PG movie, snacks, drinks and fellowship with the community.

Host a Family Day Cookout for Hope Garden Family Center

This Family Day helps our women and their children to reduce stress levels and deepen relationships with other residents. Activities include games, music, food, face painting, arts and crafts, and a barbecue. Volunteer Group Project cost is approximately $750 - $1,000

Union Rescue Mission and Hope Gardens Family Center Ambassador

Our volunteer ambassadors are on-site and provide a welcoming and warm reception to all visitors and URM or HGFC volunteers. You are the liaison to our staff and those volunteering in departments.

Additionally our volunteer ambassadors provide clerical support by answering phones, entering data, and answering emails.
