Sojourner Center is seeking volunteers to help at our Pet Companion Shelter. Sojourner Center is the only domestic violence shelter in Maricopa County that allows families to bring their pets into shelter when escaping abusive situations.

We are looking for volunteers to help enrich the lives of the pets while staying at Sojourner Center. Pet Shelter Volunteers will be responsible for helping clean kennels and cat boxes, maintain shelter cleanliness, assist with feedings, and with advanced training help exercise the pets.

Pet Shelter Volunteers must meet Sojourner Center Volunteer requirements which include attending an informational tour, obtaining a DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card, DCS and Criminal Background Checks.

Pet Shelter Volunteers must also complete animal handling training at Lost Our Home Pet Rescue Facility in Tempe.

We are seeking Volunteers to support us in various areas of our shelter by donating their time and talents. We recognize the impact of domestic violence cannot be overcome without community collaboration and therefore we proudly operate a "shelter the community built". Domestic violence affects every person in our society and you can do something to help those in need.
