UT Southwestern Medical Center Volunteer Services Desk

Join the UT Southwestern Medical Center Volunteer Services Desk team and make a difference in the lives of patients, their families, and fellow volunteers! We're seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals with a heart for serving others to be a vital first point of contact on the 2nd floor of the Orange Towers. This role also includes participation in our Docent program, offering a unique opportunity to engage with patients and families through art.

About the Role:

As a Volunteer Services Desk representative, you'll be the friendly face that welcomes and assists patients' families and volunteers, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming Guests: Providing a warm welcome to everyone arriving on this floor of the hospital.
  • Providing Information and Wayfinding: Assisting visitors with navigating the hospital, answering questions, and addressing any concerns.
  • Technical Support: Helping volunteers log in to their assigned department's computer systems.
  • Parking Assistance: Distributing parking vouchers to clergy members as needed.
  • Creating a Positive Environment: Fostering a welcoming atmosphere for patients' families who may be waiting.
  • Docent Program Participation:
    • Setting up and leading tours of the hospital's art collection for patients and their families.
    • Sharing information about the artwork and its potential therapeutic benefits.
    • Creating a positive and engaging experience for tour participants.

You're a Great Fit If You Have:

  • A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to volunteer service.
  • A true desire to serve others with compassion and empathy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • An interest in art and its potential to enhance well-being (preferred, but not required).
