One of our staff members with a resident

We have two volunteer opportunities: in our homes working directly with our residents and working with our Director of Development on fundraising opportunities in the Bay Area.

To ensure the safety of our residents who are fragile members of our society, Elwyn California has requirements for volunteers that include a health statement with TB test, a criminal background check with fingerprinting and a brief orientation.

Current Needs for Screened Volunteers:

  • Entertainment for residents: reading books, playing live music, reading poetry, playing board games, participating in art therapy session, accompany residents on outings or fieldtrips, playing bingo, going on walks and other activities.
  • Landscaping at homes for residents: building/maintaining planter boxes, planting flowers
  • Events: help with events in resident homes on a monthly basis

The volunteer opportunity to work with our Director of Development does not require screening. We are trying to build our annual donor base and are in a "friend-raising"/awareness stage. We are seeking energetic, connected individuals to assist our Director of Development with fundraising/friend-raising in the Bay Area.
