Ten Thousand Villages has a variety of volunteer opportunities and can be somewhat customized to fit your strengths and what you enjoy. We offer the following types of volunteer opportunities and are open to hearing about how you think you may be able to help.

Sales Associate Volunteer: We rely heavily upon friendly, outgoing volunteers on our sales floor to greet and engage customers, tell artisan and product stories, and ring up purchases on the cash register. We also have projects for sales associate volunteers that can include: unpacking orders, setting/straightening up visual merchandising displays, inventory, etc.

The ability to have volunteers on the sales floor as opposed to staff allow us to cut down on overhead costs and ensure that money from purchases can be reinvested in artisans rather than go toward staffing. It is important that Ten Thousand Villages volunteers begin in the store so that they have an understanding of our mission in action.

Offsite Sales Volunteer: Ten Thousand Villages hosts a growing number of sales outside of our store location and we are always looking for volunteers to help with these sales at churches, farmers markets, schools, and businesses. We will ensure that you have proper training and are paired with a staff member or seasoned volunteer during any of these events.

Education Volunteer: Ten Thousand Villages is excited about our mission and want to spread the word! Education volunteers can help to prepare and give presentations about fair trade and Ten Thousand Villages to community organizations, schools, and universities. If you have a background or interest in education, this is for you!
