Purpose/Objective: To assemble a cookbook for people who use food and herbs as medicinal aids. The focus is on natural foods in recipes targeting specific ingredients that may be helpful to medical conditions, with a dash of humor and sayings to spice it up! Northwest Compass will publish for sale upon completion.

Responsibilities: Attend an organizational team meeting at Northwest Compass in Mount Prospect, date to be determined. Volunteers will select and adapt five related recipes for each of five medical conditions which will target specific foods helpful to those conditions. Volunteers will try out the recipes and submit written comments. Volunteers will email their comments and recipes to Jean Merzon, at givingback@northwestcompass.org. Volunteers will attend a culminating team meeting when the cookbook is completed. The team will select a title for the cookbook. Volunteers will keep a written record of sources used.

Qualifications: Have cooking knowledge and experience. Have the ability to do a little computer or book research on medical problems. Have the ability to compose a few lines of information and advice, based on personal experience and research, including appropriate, related humor and sayings.

Skills required: Reading, researching, writing skills, use of judgment in selecting advice and recipes.

Time Commitment: Two team meetings, months apart, mostly working from home at your own pace.
