Ever heard the expression, "90% of helping is just showing up"? It's true! Your presence is the most important thing you can give to a hospice patient.
Friendly visitor volunteers offer support, companionship, and practical, caring help to a special group of people. Whether it's running errands, reading to a patient, or holding their hand, the help and support that our volunteers give is returned to them in countless ways.
This assignment offers flexibility in time commitment and schedule, so you can volunteer as little or as much as you like. Specialized training is provided, and a Volunteer Coordinator will walk with you every step of the way. Volunteers may choose to visit patients in their homes or at public health care facilities. You will be supported in your role by a competent and caring group of nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and fellow volunteers.
If you'd like to become a caring presence to those in need, please call Volunteer Coordinator Virginia Noble at 937-521-1444 or email noblev@homv.org.
