SCOPE OF WORK: The Bridge to Safety project is intended to improve domestic violence awareness and provide support and screening to survivors of domestic violence. With the introduction of the Bridge to Safety project in 2014, the IRC is piloting tools and practices to connect refugee and immigrant women who are survivors of violence with resources for support and healing. Bridge to Safety adapts service delivery tools and approaches that have effectively supported refugee women and girl survivors served by the IRC around the world. In Phoenix, the Bridge to Safety Intern will focus on developing local partnerships, initiating supportive services for survivors of domestic violence and tracking project outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the In-Kind & Outreach Coordinator, the intern will assist with the following:

  • Coordinate service provider appointments as identified in survivor service plan;
  • Input Bridge to Safety data in a timely and accurate manner using Bridge to Safety databases;
  • Maintain resources and policies binder for Bridge to Safety project, including maintaining Bridge to Safety meeting notes;
  • Research community resources and reach out to new potential service providers;
  • Research funding opportunities to ensure continuation of Bridge to Safety project;
  • Provide transportation to and from essential appointments for survivors;
  • Attend weekly Bridge to Safety meetings;
  • Advocate at medical appointments and with community partners on behalf of survivors;
  • Other relevant program support duties, as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working with domestic violence survivors or vulnerable populations preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners, colleagues, and clients in a cross-cultural, team based environment;
  • Experience with grant seeking or writing preferred;
  • Excellent computer skills, including competency with MS Office Suite;
  • Commitment to client confidentiality;
  • A positive attitude and a desire to learn.
