The Skyline Food & Resource Center provides those in need with groceries which they can receieve every 30 days. The amount of items they are able to choose is based on the number of people living in their household. In order to keep the information of patrons organized, Skyline uses a database called Oasis, which is how each person gets signed in when they go through for assistance.

This position would involve meeting with patrons who do not already have a case in the system. In addition to a one on one interview, the volunteer would consult simple paperwork filled out beforehand by the patron and enter their information into Oasis. Speaking to people in this way could also reveal if they are at risk of being homeless, in a dangerous relationship or in need of other resources.

The point of Food & Resource Centers, in addition to providing patrons with groceries, is to offer access to various resources that they might not have known about otherwise. Because people are usually open about their stories, interviewing them for intake is an excellent chance to let them know about services (provided by other agencies) that they could benefit from.

A volunteer in this position would be asked to have some experience with computers, as well as an open and friendly manner. Training will be provided but some experience with computers is necessary.

Usually we would ask an Intake volunteer to arrive as early as possible, because clients begin arriving throughout the week as soon as 8:30.

The FRC hours are as follows:

Mondays 1 PM - 6 PM

Tuesdays & Thursdays 10:30 AM - 2 PM

Wednesdays 1 PM - 4 PM
