Over the age of 55 and interested in volunteering in your community?
WHAT IS RSVP?
RSVP is a program from the Corporation for National and Community Service and is the largest organized senior volunteer effort in the nation. We recruit and match adults 55 years and better for volunteer positions at local non-profit, public and governmental agencies. Tutoring and mentoring children, working on disaster preparedness, or assisting with financial literacy are just a few of the RSVP volunteer positions available to our volunteers.
WHY JOIN?
RSVP is a great way for our volunteers to stay active in our community, socialize, and build new friendships. We match our volunteer’s skills and passions with local non-profit organizations.
When:We can work around our volunteers schedule.
Where: Volunteer service stations are located all around Escambia County.
We are currently partnered with 18 agencies. The next step would be to find out what volunteer position is right for you. We have many options based on your availability and interests.
Here is the complete list. Please let me know if you would like more information. I’ve also attached two files that include all the volunteer positions at the volunteer sites.

Description
ABOUT UNITED WAY OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY
The United Way of Escambia County's mission is uniting our community and leveraging resources to improve lives. Through the decades, the local campaign has partnered with other charitable entities. In 1943, still known as Community Chest, United Way partnered with the War Fund Drive, creating the first link between the local organization and federal employees.
Since 1988, the United Way has implemented the policy of funding specific agency programs rather than agencies themselves. Currently, United Way funding supports 37 programs at 25 local nonprofit agencies. Donor committees decide on fund distribution and carefully monitor results.
United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. Based on a 2006 survey, we determined that the community needs requires a focus on education, financial stability and health - the building blocks for a good quality of life. We recruit the people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.
We invite you to be part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.
