Note: You must be a resident of Newark, Fremont, or Union City.
Newark Parks Foundation is in need of a volunteer with community outreach experience, interest in public speaking, and that is fluent in Spanish. Newark has a large latin population, and we want to understand their unmet recreational needs and to educate them on our organization and mission.
You'll need to reach out to residents 1-1 by visiting our neighborhood parks, local Catholic churches, and Spanish-speaking establishments. From time-to-time you'll need to translate flyers.
Our goal with this position is to generate a large number of supportes in the Latin community and to get them to participate in the process of improvement parks and recreation in the City of Newark by attending city council metings, signing our petitions, volunteering, or attending our bike ride events.

Description
Newark Parks Foundation will support new and existing parks, open spaces, and recreation in and around Newark, California, for the enjoyment and benefit of the citizens of Newark. The Foundation will do so by:
- Organizing volunteers to build and/or maintain parks and park amenities/structures.
- Organizing user groups to identify the community’s unmet recreational needs.
- Applying for grants to support the Foundation’s capital projects and, as needed, right-of-way leases.
- Identifying partnerships between surrounding cities and park districts.
- Publishing articles to generate public support for parks and to educate the general public on the state of parks and recreation.
- Sponsoring/organizing park support events, including trash pickup events.
