ORGANIZATION: ChickTech

We are looking for a leader for the local chapter of ChickTech. There are two sides to running a chapter: outward- and inward-facing. To run a chapter effectively, we’d like to find two people whose task preferences and affinities will complement each other in order to fulfill both sides.

Our ideal candidate will have some of the below:

  • Experience with event planning, volunteer or staff management
  • Experience with either nonprofits and/or the tech field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Good strategic and tactical thinking
  • The ability to work in a collaborative style and move others to action by planning, motivating and organizing work tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that establish and maintain credibility and relationships

Key responsibilities include:

  • Find and foster strategic partnerships and relationships with organizations and businesses
  • Be the face of the organization (for the press, speaking events, etc)
  • Carry the vision for the chapter and inspire others to become a part of the ChickTech movement
  • Collaborate with co-lead to determine overall budget and annual planning (with help from HQ as desired)
  • Build and maintain advisory board

The main objectives:

  1. Ensure programs are run efficiently and effectively while providing a high quality experience for participants and volunteers.
  2. Provide and oversee comprehensive documentation to help identify best practices and keep the program in line with the organization’s mission and philosophy.
  3. Be responsible for interviewing, recruiting, planning and assigning work to the leadership team to achieve the ChickTech mission.
  4. Ensure that programs are adequately staffed with volunteers and maintained within guidelines.
  5. Create quality contracts, proposals, reports, and presentations as needed.
  6. Document events, activities, and workshops as needed to create replicable programs
  7. Attend ChickTech meetings and facilitate communication between leadership team members.
  8. Mentor leadership team members to become better leaders
  9. Determine strategic direction of the chapter
  10. Keep in close connection with HQ and other chapters

Time Commitment: 4 hour per week

Description

ChickTech is a multi-generational community helping each other become technology creators. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events and mentorship to empower, support, and increase the confidence of girls, women, and non-binary folks. Through our programs, we build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.

As a mostly volunteer-run non-profit, we are always searching for partners who would like to get involved through donations of expertise, volunteer time, in-kind, funding, or just by helping to get the word out.
