Public transit is the primary means of transportation for almost every newly arrived refugees and navigating the complex system can pose a challenge, even for most well-established American. Transit Volunteers will provide weekly trainings on accessing and using Valley Metro public transportation in Phoenix to new arrivals as a part of the Cultural Orientation classes. Ideally, volunteers will provide both group and individual public transportation trainings using existing curriculum and materials. Public transit trainings start at the client’s apartment complex, continues to the IRC office, and then returns to the client’s home.
Experience teaching or training is preferred, although not required.
Class is taught biweekly Thursday-Friday, 9am-12pm
