Immerse yourself in the big-hearted culture of this mighty island nation of The Philippines. The Philippines are home to more than 100 million people who are divided between 7,000+ islands. The Malay people, who are native to the Philippines, are known for their welcoming sense of camaraderie and kinship. Both Spanish and Chinese influences are strong as well, cultivating an island tradition like none other. You can expect to feel unbound by the constraints of time as the locals relax and celebrate. Join the fun, experience delectable fare and learn a few words of Tagalog while you're at it!
As a volunteer in the Philippines, you will be hosted by SPARK, ICYE's partner organization here. SPARK's founders pool decades of experience in children and youth outreach programs and community development. They connect volunteers to a wide variety of local needs, making your time in this beautiful country both exciting and meaningful.
Possible volunteer projects include:
- Assisting with organizing and running various activities for a children’s library
- Working on varied administrative tasks and field work activities for an organization that advocates for housing security and rights for the urban poor

Established in 2001, United Planet offers personalized, immersive, international experiential learning, service-learning, volunteer, and internship experiences to an extensive network of partners in more than 30 countries. Volunteers and interns have helped address important global issues while broadening cross-cultural understanding, developing leadership and other 21st century skills, building bridges across divides, and forging cohesive and productive cross-border relationships.A United Planet Quest is truly the ultimate educational adventure combining all elements of cultural learning, exploration, and humanitarian service. By working closely with the local people, United Planet volunteers make a positive difference in a range of areas, such as community development, healthcare, education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and more.
United Planet Quests enable volunteers to broaden global perspectives and cross-cultural understanding, improve foreign language skills, work in international teams, develop leadership skills, and most importantly, build lifelong friendships
