Want to volunteer for a local organization, but your schedule doesn’t allow for a weekly time commitment? Join the Accokeek Foundation’s Special Ops volunteer team!
The Special Ops volunteer team is a group of volunteers that will help the foundation complete special "missions" throughout the year. Missions will include park maintenance projects, event support, educational program support, and much more!
We’ll be calling on the Special Ops team when we have a special project or event that we need volunteer support for. When you receive these "mission requests," you’ll have the chance to review the details of the project and decide whether or not you would like to participate. There will be a couple missions each month, so there will be chances for you to volunteer all throughout the year.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
