We are looking for individuals who are interested in an ongoing volunteer opportunity to serve as advocates for victims of domestic and sexual violence at court hearings for; Orders for Protection, Harassment Restraining Orders, Criminal Hearings, etc. Volunteers will attend hearings at the courthouses in West St. Paul, Apple Valley, or Hastings for scheduled hearings with Lewis House Clients. Volunteers may not speak in court, but will serve as support for the victims by sitting with them and listening to their concerns. Excellent opportunity to observe multiple court proceedings and help victims in intimidating circumstances.
Court proceedings begin at 8:30 am or 1:30 pm, so a 2 - 4 hour shift is typical. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the proceedings.
Training will be provided.
